October 2002 Update Greetings Peeps! October is here! I always feel energized in the fall, and for me fall begins in October. September is my summer recovery month. Well, there's plenty going on this month and I hope that you can be a part of it. On the recording front I'm very excited to be a part of Alan Paul's new project. Alan is one of the singers in The Manhattan Transfer. He managed to fit the session in on West Coast right after a Manhattan Transfer show at the Playboy Jazz Fest in Santa Barbara. Judging by Alan's writing in The Manhattan Transfer, I know this will be a fun session. I'll keep you posted in the release date. The new Dana Mase CD that I've been speaking about for last two months, will be finished, and released early next year. Congrats to Barry and Dana Mase who scored Warner Bros. distribution for this release. Also, if you're searching for some new Christmas music for this season, check out Jo Davidson's new Christmas C.D. It's a collection of Christmas tunes interpreted on solo piano, Jo Davidson style. Check out her site at Jo Davidson Online. On the gig front, I'm out again with The Manhattan Transfer pretty consistantly through December 17th. There are a few little holes in the schedule though where I'll be flying back to do the following projects. One is a great singer/songwriter from Australia by the name of Hugh Wilson. Hugh has an amazing voice that reminds me of Bono from U2, and the late Michael Hutchence from INXS. The band is top notch featuring musical director/guitarist Ben Butler, Why Not Jansfeld on bass, and John Dely on keys. I will post our upcoming gigs, so keep watch! The second project is one I just put together collectively with the great Mike Visceglia on bass and the greasy groove of Billy Masters on guitar. After the gig in Ohio with Suzanne Vega, the three of us just said we need to play together more. I'm hoping this project will lead to a recording, and maybe even a small east coast tour. I'll keep you posted! The educational thing is somewhat new for me, but I have recently been inspired my friends and great drummers, Dom Famularo and johnnyraBB, who have achieved greatness in the field of music education. This month I will begin work on a book that will be useful for every drummer beginner through advanced. In the words of Dom Famularo "ONWARD AND UPWARD"! See ya next month! HASSY :-) << BACK |
