Happy September!
I really want to stress my appreciation for all of your support. I have met and received emails from fans worldwide. Thank you for buying the music and attending all the shows!
In touring news, I will be on tour this fall in the U.S with John Scofield. Immediately following that I will be joining Manhattan Transfer for their fall European tour. I feel like I have spending more time Europe than at home over the past few years. Jazz and creative groove music are much more appreciated overseas. Jazz music in particular is more popular in Europe than in the country they were created in. The only true original American art form is least popular in America. Strange. On the local gig scene, I recently played a fun gig with David Garfield. David has pretty much played the piano with everyone from classic albums to tours. I had a great time. By choice I don't do many local gigs in LA. The scene is much different than in NYC. The clubs are spread out, people don't go out as much, and the venues don't really support musicians. LA is more about recording sessions and tours. Every now and again when I'm out there, I will do a local gig. Thanks for having me David!
On the session scene I was recently back in NYC working with pianist Yaron Gershovsky on his latest recording. I also worked on a track with producer Rami Yadid. Open Book, the amazing songwriting duo of Michele Rubin and Rick Gedney, had released their latest effort entitled The Things We Keep. I was lucky enough to be able to play on one track in between tours. I also played on George Petit's Brazilian release entitled "End Of August". George is a fantastic guitar player/ composer/ and producer. I really enjoyed working with him on this project. Please check it out if you contemporary Brazilian jazz.
Congrats to my friends The Manhattan Transfer who were recently signed to their old friend Atlantic Records. The next three Transfer recordings will be released on Rhino/Atlantic.
That's all for now folks! Keep an eye out for the John Scofield Band. I hope to see you on tour!
HASSY:-)
