September 2002 Update

Hey Everyone,

First I must apologize for taking a partial website break during August. It's been a very busy summer with sessions and tours, and I just did not have the time to give to the site. Thanks for hanging in with me. There's plenty of things to talk about this month.

Ravi Coltrane's "Mad 6"

On the recording front, I just finished the last of 3 sessions with Dana Mase. We started over a year ago, doing 3 songs per session, and she now has an albums' worth of recorded material. All the tracks I played on were produced Ben Butler who did a wonderful job. The C.D. should be released on Water records with worldwide Warner distribution sometime next year. Ravi Coltrane's "MAD SIX" should be release soon as well. This was an audiophile session, which means it went live to tape and was mixed by David Baker while we were recording. There were no fixes or sound adjustments made.

Singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega

On the gig front, The Manhattan Transfer is off this month which allows me to resume my normal NYC session/gig schedule. I'm very excited about being asked to play with Suzanne Vega on September 19th in Cincinatti, Ohio. The gig will be broadcast live on National Public Radio. It's the last gig of this year's tour, and her regular drummer Doug Yowell will be out with Duncan Sheik. I've been a fan of her's since grade school, and I can't wait to play her music.

As far teaching goes, as I said earlier, I am in town for most of September, and will be resuming a somewhat normal schedule. I have a few regular students who are coming back lessons during, if you're interested in studying please check out my lessons page.

Keep that groove swingin'!

HASSY
