Modern Drummer
June 2006

Hey Everyone,

The more I submerge myself in music, the more I find myself writing these updates and thinking "I just wrote a June update". Years seem to be flying by faster than ever before. I just arrived home from a great tour with The Janis Siegel Band in support of her new C.D. It featured two of my favorite musicians Edsel Gomez on piano, and Darek Oles on bass.

Last January Modern Drummer magazine emailed about a feature article on me. Of course I accepted and they sent over fellow drummer and writer Michael Parillo. The result is now on news stands worldwide and I'm very happy with it. We spoke for about 2 hours and Mike did a great job with making sense out of my babble. Those of you who have taken lessons know how can I go on and on. The June issue with Chad Smith on the cover also has a great interview with Donald Fagen, and the LA Studio Kings, Hal Blaine, Earl Palmer, and Jim Keltner. I hope you enjoy it. You can also read it below.

In recording news, E! Entertainment is now using the Jennifer Love Hewitt track( Free To Be A Woman) I played on for the theme song of their show "Modern Girl's Guide To Life". The Manhattan Transfer's Symphony Sessions album is now available. I have put some samples on my site here. Also, Alan Paul's track "Cherry" in which I played on, is featured in the movie "Capote".

On the touring scene, I will once again be traveling to Asia, this time with The Manhattan Transfer. We're playing many of the same venues I played with John Scofield back in March. It will be nice to see familiar faces again.

The message board is being worked on as we speak and will be back up as soon as possible. Apparently it's more involved than I thought. Hope to see you all there when it's finished.

Long time friend and great bassist Richard Hammond launches new website!

Keep Swingin' !
