JANUARY NEWS

Happy New Year everyone!!

It was such a bittersweet holiday. This year all of my holiday work was in my home town of New York City, therefore I was able to spend this time with my family while working. Then we all heard about the horrible Tsunami and felt incredible remorse. I’m doing my best to help out while in the midst of touring with different acts. There are a few benefit concerts that I’m hoping to be a part of. Music is very healing, and back in September of 2001, this was most evident to me.
January is filled with great music. This month I’ll be performing live with The Manhattan Transfer, Janis Siegel, The East Village Opera Company, Manhattan Vibes and more. For a detailed list please go to my gig page.

On the session scene, I’ll be recording with Neshama Carlebach finishing up a project we began almost two years ago. Neshama and producer David Morgan compose some very catchy pop/rock tunes that are fun to play a fat groove over. Last month I recorded on a jazz trio project for pianist Bennet Paster. Bennet is one of my favorite all around pianists in NYC. Ravi Coltrane also called me to play on a jazz-ish vocal project that he was producing for German singer Biba. The session also featured David Budway on piano and Carlo DeRosa on bass. On the C.D release scene, Tina Shafer recently released "Promises To Eve" with myself on three tracks, Joe Bonadio and Shawn Pelton each on one track.

In February I’ve been asked to play in the Manhattan Transfer’s Unplugged Trio, where I will be using a hybrid percussion drum set. I’m currently piecing it together according to the arrangements. This will be yet another challenge and helps keep the gig interesting for me. I’ll keep you updated.

That’s all for now, I hope to see you soon!!
Steve
